Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE)
Note on the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG)
As a distributor of electrical and electronic equipment, we are obliged to inform you of the following:
All electrical appliances that can be used in private households are marked with the symbol of the crossed-out wheeled bin. As shown in this picture:
This symbol means that old devices must not be disposed of together with household waste. The aim of the ElektroG is to protect the environment and health. Because old electrical items contain hazardous substances or valuable resources, every consumer is obliged to return them separately from household waste to recycling centers. You can find an overview of municipal collection and return points here:
- Germany: https://www.ear-system.de/ear-katalog/sammel-und-ruecknahmestellen.jsf#no-back
- Austria: https://secure.umweltbundesamt.at/eras/registerabfrageEAGSammelstelleSearch.do
In addition, as a manufacturer, we have set up additional free collection points for small appliances that do not have external dimensions of more than 25 cm. You can find a list of these collection points in Germany here:
https://www.interseroh.de/dienste/recycling/elektroaltgeraete/weee-annahmestellen/
For Austria: https://www.alba.info/standorte/wien-1/profitara-austria-gmbh.html
You can also drop off devices there whose external dimensions exceed 25 cm.
At Interseroh you must request a return slip before handing it in
Outside Germany, collection points exist at the following locations:
- Austria: 8073
- France: 33610 60700
- Italy: 36066
- Spain: 08245
For detailed information about these waste disposal companies, please send an email to info@rene-europe.com.
Please note the following important information!
Please note that we can only accept broken devices everywhere. Anything that is not broken does not belong in electronic waste! Old devices with an edge length of up to 25 cm are only accepted in normal household quantities. Contaminated devices are not accepted. The old device that you return for disposal does not have to have been purchased from us.
There are exceptions for devices whose external dimensions are larger than 25cm. When you buy a new Tomons lamp, you can return a broken old lamp to our collection points and disposal partners. The prerequisite is that a new device of the same type and quality was purchased from us. The buyer must prove this with a corresponding purchase receipt. The old device that you return for disposal does not have to have been purchased from us.
You must ensure that personal data is deleted from the old devices to be disposed of. Our registration number with the Stiftung Elektro-Altgeräte-Register ("EAR") is: DE 55424260
Note according to the Battery Act (BattG)
Some of our products contain batteries and rechargeable batteries. According to the Battery Act (BattG), we are obliged to inform you of the following:
Batteries and rechargeable batteries must not be disposed of in household waste. Every consumer is legally obliged to return used batteries and rechargeable batteries to a municipal collection point or to a local retailer. Used batteries can contain toxins, but also important raw materials. As shown in this picture: .
The symbol with the crossed-out garbage can means that the batteries and rechargeable batteries must not be disposed of in household waste. Batteries containing harmful substances must also be
marked with the following abbreviations of the pollutants: Pb: Battery contains lead / Cd: Battery contains cadmium / Hg: Battery contains mercury
Remove (if possible) all batteries and rechargeable batteries from the devices and dispose of them separately in the battery disposal system.
Light bulbs must also be disposed of separately. Only light bulbs and halogen lamps may be disposed of in household waste. Broken light bulbs can simply be handed in at one of thousands of "Lightcycle" collection points. This helps to conserve important resources, as around 90 percent of the components of old lamps can be recycled. You can find collection points near you here.
Note on disposal and environmental regulations according to the Packaging Ordinance (VerpackV)
In accordance with the provisions of the Packaging Ordinance (VerpackV), we are obliged to take back packaging for our products and ensure that it is reused or disposed of. We are part of a nationwide dual system. You can therefore return all packaging that you receive with our products to a municipal collection point or disposal company in your area free of charge.
